ZX clutch adjustment

Post by the_weaver »

Hi folks

According to the Haynes manual the clutch on the ZX should be adjusted to give 140 mm of travel from the pedal up to the pedal down position. Is this still a valid method (and measurement) for a very old clutch (> 200,000 miles)?

If the clutch doesn't disengage fully when the pedal is pressed down all the way to the floor should I adjust the cable so that the pedal comes up higher (more travel)? Am I right in thinking that shortening the cable will increase the pedal travel?

Is the clutch pedal normally higher than the brake pedal on a ZX, or level with it?

Thanks

Paul

i think as the clutch wears you need to adjust the pedel up higher than you would expect it to be,

so all you can do is adjust it till you can engage gears smoothly, or as smoothly as possible,

then you know when the clutch is cream crackerd as you cant get your foot between the pedel and steering consoul
