c5 brake light flashing on dash

hi all my c5 2001 hdi 110 has some sort of braking error as the little red brake circle on the right is flashing on and is beeping at me,wasnt to bad at first but its got progressively worse and i must get it sorted. It has plenty of brake fluid,handbrake is releasing ok, and the brakes work fine so would it be an abs sensor or low pads?

Guessing its low pads, does it do it more when braking or all the time?

Maybe the covering on the pad wires has rubbed through and is shorting out intermittently.

I had a similiar problem on a Metro once, where rust had formed on the edge of the disk making the edge of the disk protrude further, this had cut through the sensor wires and caused the dash light to flicker.

I had this on a c5 hdi 2003 that I used to own. Dealer changed the brakelight switch activated by the brake pedal, and the problem was fixed. Just a possibility.
