C5 II air-con

Post by RKM »

Sorry for posting an air-con query here but the dedicated area looks a bit inactive, so here goes, at fear of annoying the moderators:

The air conditioning on my 2006 C5 stopped working, after one of the flexible
pipes, located between the engine block and the radiator, split, dumping all of
the air con gas into the atmosphere and, no doubt, puncturing a little hole of
its own into Mother Earth's ozone layer.

As expected, the car has shut down the air-conditioning function, so the
compressor does not cut in and the engine's radiator fan does not run when the
air conditioning function is selected. One can still activate the system on the
multi-function Navidrive display but nothing happens. No warning message is
revealed either.

I have taken the car to an air-con specialist, who diagnosed a leak. However, he
managed to bring the system up to its usual operating pressure but the
compressor still is not cutting in.

Does the system need resetting with Lexia? I have checked the fuses and there
are no problems there. Is there a relay unit and, if so, where is it located?
The handbook and Haynes's infamous 'book of lies' are both not very helpful.

Thanks!
