Club XM

Post by Ciaran »

Hiy guys,

For anyone looking for Club-XM, unfortunately its currently offline (and has been since last night) due to very severe weather which is causing power problems.

At the moment we're still getting spikes and blips in the supply every 30 - 60 seconds, indeed the lights have flickered several times as I type this. Though the servers are on a UPS, the relentlessness of these fluctuations is causing it to trip. After it caused them to die more than 20 times in an hour, I was forced to shut them down to prevent corruption on the disks, and / or hardware damage due to the constant on-off.

As soon as the situation improves I'll get the site back online. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Best policy to turn off the servers when the power is that bad Ciarán. I've known such to kill them..

Hope normal service is soon restored!

See that it is back up and running ok this morning.
Missed it while it was down last night.
Thanks Ciaran for letting us know the reason.
Hope the gales did not do too much damage.

Hi guys,

The site should be back up now, the problem was caused by corrupt router firmware, triggered by a powercut, causing traffic to the website to be dropped intermittently. Unfortunately the replacement device also had a similar problem, which was very difficult to diagnose, wasting days.

Sorry for the inconvenience. I've now obtained a further replacement to prevent this happening again.

Cheers

And take three.

Its actually back now. After sorting the (second) router yesterday, the ISP gave me a lovely little DNS problem to deal with, which of course I still blamed on the router!

The sites now back up, sorry again for the extended downtime.
