There was a high resistance break between fuse 21 and the air conditioning switch.

Hmm, I've possibly got the same problem...

OK,

Xantia 2.0 HDi Dec 1999 with the green relay as shown in the beginning of this thread.

I am another sufferer of this blower not turning

Now I have read this entire post and followed all the links where shown, downloaded and printed all the diagrams.

I am left totally confused and have got nowhere almost certainly due to a combination of frustration, not going about it logically and and not quite up to the job?

If one of you knowledgeable people who have already helped on this thread and others could find some more patience, I would be very grateful.

Genuinely I really feel like taking the car to the breakers for disposal but this would be such a crime.

I would happily pay someone a reasonable sum but have little confidence.
It did go to Citroen specialist for an hour and they threw thier hands up in the air, charged me an hours labour and apologised.

The blower runs with 12v applied direct to motor.
I changed the diode pack for a new genuine Citroen model after I tried a refurbed unit without success, neither rmade any difference.

With the engine running conditions at the brown 4 pin connector:

Note * the two control wires give different readings with the connector removed and in situ (connected)

No 12V accross the Thick Black and Red
Continuity between the Black and earth.
Pin 1 white 12v disconnected, 0.3v connected to earth
Pin 3 orange 0v to earth
Slder makes no difference to votages on control wires.

Aircon light comes on when button pushed.
Engine note does not change and I cannot hear the compressor engaging.

Also when this went to the Cit specialist the temp slider caused the expected hot and cold change from slider movement but had no aircon light coming on if pressed! On return the aircon light comes on if pushed but no change any more in temp from the slider, always cold (not aircon cold of course as no compressor cutting in as already mentioned)

If just reading my jumble above causes you frustration I fully understand you not replying However if you could I would be very pleased.

Thanks

Does the light on your A/C switch look dim?

Try unplugging the single wire that goes into the motor whilst you have the multiplug plugged in. This should cause the blower to run at full speed.

Try this a couple of times, once with the air con switch on and one with it off.

Mine stopped with the switch on. I replaced the wires between the fuse box and the switch and the switch and the motor. This seems to have cured it for me.

David first thanks for taking the time to post.

To be honest I do not think the light looks dim, but I am feeling it (dim) :)

I assume you mean the single wire that goes piggy backed to the negative?
It strangely comes from a thin pinkish wire and has a single connector before it changes to black and goes to the negative of the motor?

If so, I just tried that and had no luck.

OR

Are you menaing a different wire? i.e one or both of the control wires on the brown multiplug?

I certainly know how you and others have felt with this fault as it makes you feel like dumping an otherwise great car!!

Regards

That's the one, when I unplugged mine the heater came on at full speed.

The only thing I can suggest is to get a copy of the wiring diagrams that Jim provided in this thread and follow each wire. You'll probably find it's a high resistance break in one of the joins behind the dashboard.
