DIY read-out and reset your computer

Post by Frank Smit »

Hi there!

I'm new here, allthough active over some time now on the largest citroen forum in the Netherlands. I've owned a citroen BX, three Peugeot 205's and 3 xm's, with geat pleasure.

After many complaints on the suspension of my xm, I found out that the hydro-active suspension indicator, which also lights when turning into sport-suspension, should always light for a second or 5 after turning on the ignition. Eventough many dealers and specialists don't know this, the light stops lighting after ignition, when there is some fault stored in the suspension computer. When that happens, suspension will automaticly turn into safe modus, and therefore not work as it should be.

As a couple of forum guys and me where trying to find a solution, it appeared that almost every xm owner had this problem and turned to the dealer to let their computer be read out and have a reset. Instantly, the magic carpet ride was back! Unfortiunately, after a couple of days, or even hours, the fault came back, and again suspension turned into safe modus.

I found a link on the internet to DIY read-out and reset your computer.

Here it is

Afterwards, I have created my own unit and made it a little more durable. It works perfectly and allthough it is easy to make it yourself, maybe some of you are interested in one of my creations.

Maybe you're not able to read Dutch  , you can find a picture (seem's I've lost them) in my Avitar. My name on the Dutch forum is Malle Pietje. dutch citroen forum

It works on your xm, xantia, bx and even peugeots with electronic ignition but is especially perfect to make your xm suspend as it's supposed to do!

If your interested, let me know! And for any questions, please reply or send me a message and I'm happy to answer them![/img]
