Ever wanted to race a Xantia V6 Exclusive?

Post by red_dwarfers »

Just found this on YouTube!
It appears that Gran Turismo 4 has one where in a round about way you can play with the Hydractive settings :)

Hmm, it appears to be a manual in the game, I didn't think there were any manual V6 Xantia's ? Also it gives the player the option of Hard, Medium, and Soft for the suspension - there is no medium option in Hydractive

Doesn't look like they've tried very hard to simulate the characteristics of an Actual Xantia - just slap a Xantia shaped body on a generic physics model...

That setting he alters at the start is a choice of sports tyre compound. I had a look at the Xantia on GT4 a couple of months ago, one of the upgrades you can do is a 'sports' and 'racing' suspension kit, and the description of the upgrade goes on about changing dampers and coil spring rates. So yeah as mandrake says they literally just put a Xantia body over a general physics model, and used a v6 sound for it.

There is a certain 'novelty factor' in being able to choose the car you drive on a daily basis... but lets be realistic, how on earth do you expect to mimic the true handling characteristics of a real Xantia.. And yes! they did produce the Xantia V6 in manual form, they just decided not to make it available in the UK, cheers Citroen

The Xantia V6 representation in GT4 is very disappointing, as Mandrake and Dommo say its really quite generic. I'm fairly sure gearbox wise it had the 4 speed automatic, it certainly seemed to have the gear ratios correct, i.e. far to long for a racing situation with 2nd gear going to 90mph.
As Dommo says its not hydractive setting its tyre compound.

Although saying all this in my virtual GT4 garage I do have a light green Xantia V6 ;)

Being in the dark ages I still have a PS 1, but GT2 features a Xantia too with which I've won many races
