Earlier in the week I was towing my caravan up through France. On a hill I changed into fourth gear and the car slowed down and the engine revved. The clutch was slipping (wasn't it?). Finally, after getting into second, and leaving a cloud of blue smoke, I managed to get onto the hard shoulder. I switched off and thought through my options. Before getting on the phone, I decided to try driving one more time. Although I was still on the hill, the engine started as normal, I selected first gear and away I went. The next four hundred miles up to Dunkirk went without any further drama.
It scared the life out of me. What went wrong?

Although it was a steepish hill, it was quite a short one. Nothing like the long slogs that I'd previously done in Spain. But thanks for the suggestion.coastline taxis wrote:Maybe with pulling the caravan uphill the clutch might of overheated and started to slip.

No - there wasn't any burnt clutch smell, only the smoke. And No - I haven't been able to log on to Citroen-owners for a week or more. Even Aussiefrogs are wondering whats happened.coastline taxis wrote:was there any smell wen it was acting itself.
