what is....

Post by seany87 »

the part of the engine next to (or connected to ) the bottom pulley of my HDi 90??

This seems to be leaking a fair bit of LHM onto the road

The actual pump itself with all the pipes and things seems fine. There is no contamination onto the alternator but the right hand suspension fixtures are absolutely filthy

Oh and whats the best way to remove said LHM from ones drive?? Ive tried using gunk de-greaser, a firm brush and a hose but to no avail

cheers once again

Which pully? Crank pully? Air con pully?

From the front of the engine area, from the rear of the engine area?

Drivers side, behind the drivers wheel area?

This should help us a bit further..

Whoops, sorry forgot to mention location

Drivers side, front of engine, near floor. Sort of under the alternator

Not sure what this pulley drives though, maybe timing belt??

Theres No hydraulic pipes in this area, only the ones the run accross the front of the engine block and up to the Hydraulic Pump..

Check the rear of the pump to see if a rear seal if leaking..

The lower pully is the Air Con compressor.. sometimes these have a green type of lubricant oil in them... that could have leaked out..

Yup, I'd say it's AirCon lube.
Have your aircon serviced every winter or so (cheaper in the winter)

Check the feed pipe to the front drivers side strut, follow it around it's bendy bits until it goes to a small quadrant clamp holding it to the inner wing. This is a common place to spring a leak and it will run along the little channel on the innner wing and drip onto the road just about in the area you are getting the drips.

Regards.
Martin.
