Did you try to check from the chassis number?
In 1.4 Xsara it should be KFW (TU3JP) or KFX (TU3JP).

In my MK2 Xantia, engine code RFV (XU10J4R) can be interpreted from chasis number like this:
VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]...

V = Europe
F = France
7 = Citroen
X = Xantia
2 = Estate
RFV = 2.0i 16V
F = 5 speed

You wont need the engine code for checking the airbag system. I doubt you will need lexia anyway, 99.9% It will be the connectors under the seats :)
A 1.4 will either be KFW, KFV or KFU. Depends on the type of engine, emissions spec etc.

In MK2 Xantia engine code is added to VIN number.

--> that must be 2.0i Turbo CT Activa (or 2.0i VSX Turbo CT)
