Hi all,
My Xantia (95 1.8 8v) has just started miss firing / being hesitant quite badly. Being not too technical when it comes to cars!! What is the first thing to check? The spark plugs??
If the car is in neutral or I have my foot on the clutch then the engine runs fine.
Thanks for your help

It could (amonst other things) be any of the ignition HT components. I think the 8V engines have a single coil and distributor.
The ignition coil would be my first culprit (especially if the miss gets worse when the engine warms up).
Run the engine with the bonnet up in the dark, and look for any flashover from the HT leads, which could give a clue.
