Xantia owners - lets annoy Haynes :-)

Post by nick »

I sent an email to Haynes last week asking if they had any plans to include the HDi diesel engine in a revision of their Xantia manual. I've been thinking of buying an HDi, but I'm not keen on buying a model that doesn't have a manual available.
This was their reply;
"We update our manuals on a regular basis, however there are no immediate plans to update the Xantia manual with the Hdi engine. Our customer services department will be informed as and when the update will be undertaken, and we would suggest you contact them in a month or so. They can be contacted on sales@haynes-manuals.co.uk"
So if enough people pester them, they may eventually update it [:D]

I wrote to them in 1998 to ask if they intended updating the Xantia book. The present book goes up to N reg. and has no mention of the 2.1TD engine. I got a similar reply to your own. In the end, I had to buy a Pug 406 book for engine info. Maybe that's all part of the plan!

My Xantia book covers the 2.1TD, its the newer Service & Repair type book covering 93 - 98, so they must have heeded your advice at some stage.
IIRC the Xsara manual covers the HDi engines.

My book goes up to S reg and does mention the 2.1TD engine - it tells you it's so big its very difficult to do DIY stuff on it..

Thanks Fox for that - and so I found out when I wanted to change the glowplugs.

It would be nice if they would include the turbo petrol engine as well.
No hope there, not enough of us around to pay for the manual, it would only be my 3rd Xantia manual anyway - the first didn't even include the estate.[xx(]
