C5 Rear driver side door stuck

Post by boristhespie »

The rear offside(driverside) door was jammed. I did the banging it a bit and got it open. I took off childlock which allows it to be opened from inside.

Thing is most often or not it wont open from outside. But when I open it from inside it opens everytime I try from the outside as normal. But when left for a little shile it jams from the outside again and I have to use inside handle all over?

I seem to remember door locks go on C5s. They still open from inside.
I've had one replaced under warranty on my previous 02 C5, and two others were going before the flood took it.

Also, I think the metal wire that goes from the handle to the catch can stretch. I think you could bend it smaller but I could be talking complete rubbish about that. Think it was common on inside handles that.

Thing is once you have opened it from the inside. it opens okay from the outside too. But left overnight or for a period of time it sticks again from the outside.

The fact it does work after opening from inside makes me wonder what is up.

Its a common problem with that particular door lock on the C5's - you can get the door panel off with the door shut, you can then get at the child lock mechanisem which is hidden behind a plastic cover at the lower end of the door lock..

Its a problem with the child lock side of things jamming, which happened with a customers C5, which if he left the child lock off it never jammed...
