Xantia HDi Exclusive Fault Codes

Post by DHallworth »

I'm getting on the ball with this Lexia now.

I decided to read the codes off the missus HDi and see if i could figure out any reasons for it smoking or generally being a pain in the ass.

Here's what I got from it:

ABS ECU:

Intermittent Fault - Safety Relays

Engine ECU:

Permanent Fault - 2 additional heating and preheating circuit - Faulty Circuit
Temporary Fault - ECU Microprocessor Internal Fault
Temporary Fault - Flowmeter signal - Short circuit to earth or open circuit flow too low
Temporary Fault - Pre-Post heating relay circuit. Short circuit to positive
Temporary Fault - Pre-Post heating relay circuit. short circuit to earth or open circuit
Temporary Fault - Fuel low pressure pump supply. Short circuit to positive

Left Airbag ECU:

Permanent Fault - Warning lamp open circuit

Suspension ECU:

Intermittent Fault - Steering wheel sensor
Intermittent Fault - Speed Sensor
Intermittent Fault - Accelerator Pedal Potentiometer
Intermittent Fault - Incorrect accelerator pedal adjustment
Intermittent Fault - Straight ahead calculation

Would the faults from the suspension explain why the car lifts the rear when you lift off the throttle and why it dips the rear when you put your foot down?

Thanks Guys

David.

I don't think you can learn much from those fault codes without knowing when they were last cleared. Some could be due to flat battery events, or other servicing actions. Erase them and drive the car for a few days and see which come back.

None of those suspension faults look problematic.

I've reset them all last night.

Will give them a read again next weekend and see whats coming up.

Just wondered if anyone had experienced any of them on another car.

Thanks

David.

The first one coule be a duff glowplug or two - apparently most older HDis have at least one plug down, as they have a hard life with post start heating. The others I'd just wait and see if they come back - as mentioned above, could just be a low voltage wobble or something.

PS interesting to see you have a Lexia now....I'm not far down the road in Lanark, so if I need a 'plug in' I might be waving some beer tokens in your direction... Did you buy a Lexia 3 clone, or manage to get hold of a 'proper' Lexia 2? I'm still thinking about buying one - probably right up to the day I need it!

Mine is a Lexia 3 clone from China.

I'm about 17 miles west of Glasgow in a small village called Langbank.

If you wish to pop down for a plug in you are more then welcome!

I bought one too!! And they work perfectly.. Setup is a little confusing, but after help from David, got it sorted..

There seems to be NO DIFFERENCE in its operation what so ever.. making sure you get the correct leads seems more important.

That's a link to the one I bought.

I contacted the seller directly and said I needed the 2 pin, 16 pin and 30 pin plugs.

She then came back to me with a price including postage.

That's a good deal on the Lexia 3 :D

The suspension faults are pretty typical of an ECU not reset for a while. If they cleared Ok and have not reappeared in a few hundred miles than as Mike says, just glitches :D

You will find the Steering Wheel Sensor and Straight Ahead ones come back with regularity though. No reason, they just do. A regular Lexia'ing is a good idea on the suspension ECU and it seems to sharpen things up a tad after clearing faults.

Can't see they have any bearing on the dipping and rising at the rear unless you have a set of real comfort spheres on the back making it incredibly soft...

Slightly OT...

Is there any difference between the Lexia 3 and the 2? More specifically is there anything the Lexia 2 can do that the 3 can't?

I'd say the Lexia 3 should be able to do more with later cars. My lexia 2 is not very forthcoming on later Picassos and late C5s for one thing.

Is the Lexia 2 still very much better for the Xantias and earlier Citroens?

I believe that Chinese Lexia 3's can't recode keys, I'm also unsure as to how you'd use a breakout lead on them. Other than that I'd have thought that they will be similar, the only way to tell is to directly compare them side by side, project for one of the summer meets?
