This came up on another forum and I was wondering if it's also how the cars are set up for the UK.

People are reporting that simply tapping the indicator stalk results in three regular flashes - rather than just the desired single blink. Concern has arisen over this causing possible misinterpretation of the driver's intent, by other road users.

Is it re-programmable at the stealers? I'm hoping those here with newer cars and possibly dealer contact would know.

It's a lane-change thing, VW's have done it for a few years now.

All you do is push it down but not far enough so it clicks, and it flashes 3 times while you do your lane change, or come off a roundabout, etc.

When changing lanes, you should not click the indicator stalk as you would if turning, but hold it in the first position so it flashes but doesn't lock on, and let it flash at least 3 times before changing lanes.

That's what this feature does for you. However if you don't want it to do it I don't know how to get around it. Personally I think it's a good feature as it means lazy cunds are more likely to use them!

Last year, I believe.

The trouble here, is there exist plenty of traffic situations where more than one or two flashes will give people a dangerously wrong idea. You might want to indicate left when leaving a small roundabout, but the continuing flash gives someone in an upcoming nearside road, the impression you are going to turn in - they then turn across in front of you... It would be safer not to signal at all!

I understand the sort of situation you mean now, I think the trick there is to start indicating off the roundabout sooner. But obviously not so soon that people think you're turning off 1 exit too soon.

I understand why it's a problem, but the system wouldn't even exist if people weren't lazy with their indicators.

No, as far as im aware this isnt a feature on any UK Citroens.

VWs have used it for years, yeah, a lot of other manufacturers do now too: BMW, Vauxhall etc. Though i dont think Citroen has adapted it. It might be on the latest ones? new C5, but im not sure, didnt think it was.
