I had a go at removing the front bumper today, but must admit that I succumbed to the cold before I could find the screws.
Can anybody tell me how many I have to undue, and where they are situated. From the Haynes manual I understand that I will have to remove the fog lights, but It is unclear to me how I will get these out on an X2 without snapping any plastics.
Any help would be much appreciated

You'll have to peel back the wheel arch liners where you'll find a bolt and screw each side, the screw faces upwards. The fog lights are integral with the bumper and you just have to unplug the connector behind the nearside. There are three bolts underneath which will probably be rusted up. If you have headlamp washers the pipe has to be disconnected by the quick release union behind the offside. Then it's just a matter off pulling.

It infuriates me to be wrong when I know I'm right

Sounds like the BoL is living up to it's name!
Remove the three 10mm bolts under the bumper.
Remove the bolts retaining the front of the wheel arch liner and bend/pull it out the way.
Now you'll have access to the bumper retaining nut on each side.
You may need a torch or a good feel around to find them.
I can't remember off the top of my head if on Mk2's it's a nut or bolt, I think it's a nut whereas I know on Mk1's it's a bolt as it often rusts in the captive nut in the bumper breaking it free.
There's also the torx screws that hold the ends of the bumper to the wing.

When I removed the bumper on my S2 there were the bolts and screws already mentioned and a large (about 17mm A/F) bolt going from the body into the bumper. It's located in the vicinity of the nearside foglight and is easy to access. The bumper then just pulls off the locating spigot on the offside.

>I never found that 17mm bolt. <
It may have been one holding one of the big spigots on. I can remember removing it and wondering if there was one the other side going through the radiator (Well, it's a Citroen, you never know )
I do know that when the bumper came free I ended up on my back on the drive with it sat on my lap!
It's a bit cold and dark to go and have a look.
