CLUTCH PROBLEM

Post by CITMAN »

I have a 1995 Citroen ZX 1.4i with 75,000 miles. I had the clutch replaced at 68,000 miles which was about 9 to 10 months ago. Know I have the following problem.
When the you have drive for say 15 miles and the engine, gearbox and clutch are hot. I get a severe judder (maybe clutch judder), which is much reduced or not there at all, when the engine is cold when setting off in first gear, however it seems to be in the form of the gear lever moving to and fro violently.
When driving in first gear and thrid with my hand on the stick and letting off the accelerator pedal I can feel what i think is the engine and gearbox moving through the gear stick.
I have had some bushes replaced in the gear linkage under the advice of my citroen specialists garage???????????????????????????????????. I feel they are fobbing me off due to the fact that warranty is nearly up.
Whats really annoying is the fact that clutch job costed £286.05 and that included removing flywheel and fitting a new crankshaft oil seal and refitting.
Oh how much is a clutch kit from Citroen, the clutch which was fitted supposed to have cost £89.10 plus VAT which = £104.69.

Sounds more like a missfire than clutch judder to me, if so it will rock the engine about under load and will shake the gear lever.
Iv'e never known bad judder to be fussy about temperature, they either judder or they are smooth hot or cold.

defo a judder of some sort as can raise the engine revs and it still does it but a little worse. The engine runs perfect but its the bloody judder that letting the car down.
Whats the best way of approaching the garage cause im concerned it maybe clutch related.
