How to re-sync Xantia S2 RF keyfob

Post by JamesQB »

Hi,

Parents' Xantia 1.8TD series 2 isn't responding to the keyfob anymore all of a sudden. The buttons are fine as I replaced them short while ago, yet neither of the 2 do anything.

It's the radio frequency type with two buttons, one button locks the car, the other button unlocks it. It does not work with one button locking and unlocking, while the 2nd one deadlocks.

The battery is happy at 3.2V and since I attended to all solder joints when replacing the buttons, I can't see what could have gone wrong, and it's unlikely both lock and unlock buttons are knackered.

Read about these things becoming unsynced if you press the button too many times with it out of range of the vehicle. So is there a way to resync that doesn't involve instructions mentioning the fob LED, since RF ones have no LED?

Thanks!

From memory, I had to put the key in the ignition, turn it to the Start position, and depress/hold the locking button for a few seconds. Upon then removing the key, it seemed to work fine.

That said, mine is humidity sensitive!

Sounds about right Addo.. Got it in one!

Give that a go, it should work for you

I had to do this on a Xsara, X 2000 model, and that also was RF, and it worked as Addo said.
