Horrendous Trip

Post by boristhespie »

Okay journey usually take 1.5 hours took 3.5 today. 10-20 mph the entire dual carriageway north of Dundee to Aberdeen sheer ice non-stop. Saw a van disappear down an STEEP embankement, a lorry jacknife. Came across three other crashes before Stonehaven and two other cars in separate accidents towards Aberdeen, on their roofs and and a last one car up the embankent and into a sign coming in Aberdeen after roling.

I drove into carpark thinking I was safe when the car went straight at the turn in. I mounted the kerb onto the grass and thought OOOOOOOOOO Tree!!! I stopped 2 inches (Not exagerating) from said Tree. As bad as France this Christmas.

Now what will it be like at 8 tonight when I go back?!!!! :(

NOTE: BLIZZARDS that is what it will be going back and onto the frozen rain.

They are illegal to use on the roads here as are snow chains though in conditions like this if you had them on i could imagine you could just accelerate away from any policeman silly enough to try and pull you on that law as they wouldn't be able to catch up with you :)

Got to say round here it was fine, not even frost on the screen.

Been saying this since the start of the week that the UK and ireland are stuck in a loop of cold airstreams being pulled from the northerly regions which are plunging our tempratures greatly and after the last cold snap said it wouldn't be the last we here of it as it will be like this for a while....
