Xsara Estate rear wiper problem

On my 2002 xsara estate the rear wiper moves everytime I use the foot brake ! !

anyone have this problem before?

I would imagine that could be a bad connection possible an earth wire.

Check the rear light clusters for a corroded connection & if there are any earth points make sure these are nice & clean.

I believe this was a rare factory-fitted optional extra to promote wear in the rear wiper blade. :shock:

Have a look at the wiring flex conduit between the body and tailgate. Sounds like a couple of wires have snapped or crushed allowing the two seperate circuits to energize when you press the pedal by shorting.

The other alternative, as noted by Uncle Buck, is that the earth has corroded, making the circuits find alternative paths to earth and thereby completing the circuit.

I found the problem ok and it was as you said "handyman" a broken wire between the body and tailgate.
I had to cut open the rubber at the tailgate.
