Prob with my 1.9td Xantia
Hi everyone i hope someone can help me.yesterday come down the motorway at 70 mph the car started jumping abit and got worse and worse to the point i could only do about 40 mph and when it came to a hill it would only just get up it at about 5mph.Theres no smoke coming from the car and when drivin and i take it out of gear the car cuts out then when back in gear the car is running.Car wont even run at idle can anyone think what this may be.Thanks
Fuel filter is first port of call. Try draining the unit by pumping contents into a jar then close and pump with primer bulb. Start engine and see if squeezing bulb makes any difference.

On a related note, under the rear seat on the drivers side is the fuel sender.
It has a mesh filter on it which gets gummed up with dirt over the years so it is worth checking and cleaning.

Ditto!
Fuel starvation.. Theres NOT a lot on a derv engine to sus out!
If theres fuel and air then = GO! Thats all they need, so if theres no go, theres no fuel, or lack of it!
A diesel engine goes faster simply be putting more fuel in.. so I also would look at fuel filter and pickup in the tank!

Possibly, or it could be rust flakes.
Cassy's was rather unpleasant and nearly totally blocked, some others I've seen pictures of look like they've got mould or half the garden stuck in them.
It's amazing what can get into the tank over the years!
With the warmer weather, start running on at least 50% SVO and it will help clear out the gunk to be caught by the gauze and your fuel filter.
