Oh Gawd, That's serious lexi. That's the "V" that makes it a V6..

You now have a Xantia 6

Seriously, not a scoobs :( It looks like a hydraulic leakage return pipe joint from a distance but I cannot recall having seen one like that on the scrapper, Now the snow has more or less gone. I can look again.

Was it lying under the back or the front of the car?

If everything is still working I would suspect it's off another car.
Guess it depends where on the ground it was found; sainsbury's or
your front driveway! I've dismantled over half a dozen Xantiae now
and don't recall a pointless return Vee in this material, size or shape.

If it IS off your car it is specific to the V6 and as Jim says most
appropriately resembles the signature Vee... :?

Thank s guys. Sure it`s off the V6. Was under the front /bulkhead area in spot where I was working. No other cars in this workspot for a month, I thought washer/wipe system but can see nothing amiss.

Without being geeky (I did) it`s a well made extrusion.

It may have been a fashion detail on some of those lovely designer cardys I wear while under cars

Water drain tube possibly ? (I can't make it out) , the kind of rubber tube you would get attached to somewhere on the body to allow rainwater to come out (think along the lines of the sunroof drain tubing) :)

It looks to me that it was attached to someting if you look at the point of the "V" (bit like a piece of an airfix kit) :?

It's called a tape measure. 10 foot Stanley by the look of it.

if ultimately hopeless reply! :?

I reckon you're about right, the angle is too acute for a drain pipe.

It's a pretty good suggestion, eh? Very plausible as the kind of junk that might get wedged under a car (preferably without kid attached).

Our own Sherlock, perhaps?

Without trying to make a pun, the shape is ultimately a pointless angle to be performing a job on a Xantia even allowing for the vagaries of Citroens design engineers! Why have anything jointed or flowing in such a indecisive
manner with such a u (or even quicker!) turn! :D
