XM Texalarm woes

Post by joneseymanchester »

Anyone have any experience with a dodgy alarm system on mk 1 XM? I've had some helpful advice at the XM list:
and am currently experimenting with every possible combination of ignition / push button / battery connection, but any further advice will be gratefully received.
Those symptoms in full: having fixed dodgy remote locking, alarm will not arm. Dash LED is either always on (if I press the dash button) or always off. LED doesn't flash as expected to indicate alarm is armed, and I can't provoke the alarm into going off no matter how hard I try. Electronics pack looks OK inside, no broken tracks / dry joints that I can see. The alarm used to work OK, so I think the basic installation / wiring is sound.
Anyone conquered this one before?
cheers,
- Simon

Mk I XM's are renown for having hideous earthing probelms - that would certainly screw up an alarm. Could be worth looking into.
