Xantia Tailgate lock jammed

Post by dwthia »

The tailgate has been jammed for 2 months - managed to open it yesterday and tried reapplying plastic membrane and dry out foam. Is there any way a manual line can be fixed to the locking mechanism to open it from the inside when I want to or do i need a new lock mechanism

Is your Xantia a S2 model? If so you could fit a boot lock from a S1 which has a key slot to lock/unlock the boot.

Take the membrane off again. check and lube everything from inside the door where you can get a look at what`s happening. The usual problem with this model is that it will not lock on the remote first time.

What you have is a severe inconvenience.

If all fails it may be a new lock.

I have attached a wire to the locking mechanism and to date it opens every time.................

I think a new lock is the best bet with some warmer weather. Thanks for your help - will report back when fixed
