Can you confirm that this is order for this valve assembly?

Ahh, you found your ball and cup then lexi :D

A spare is currently on it's way right now.

The order you have the bits laid out is correct...

Thanks Jim..........this set will be yours  Out of scrappy today from a 1.9td. I take it that the ball is free to move within that spring then. Does it travel to the underside of that plug above it with the small hole?

I will now strip back out the union and valve assembly Jim . I didn`t do that to actually look for the ball as it was such a struggle to get it back together as threads seemed bruised. I was only going on memory so now we will see if ball is in there (hopefully not) and if it will go back together. A lovely tap and die for that thread would have been handy although the male has a hardened finish

It was amazing how easy it was to get that stuff of a 1.9 rather than the V6 !

lexi, I was telling porkies last night, a load of balls actually. It was late

The order I said was correct isn't

The CORRECT order is Piston, ball, cup over it, spring, delivery valve.

So put the ball below the cotton bud, the ball cup over it so the cup hugs the ball, and then the spring... The ball cup in your picture is upside down as shown. The curved bit of the cup should go up into the spring..

Does that make sense?

Sorry to confuse earlier. It was late and I was not thinking well. I've just been out in my workshop (at 06:30) to dismantle a known good pump to check the order!

Thanks Jim............no loss anyway as I aint been at it yet.
I had another pic of it that way but did not load it. This is what has actually got me thinking that the ball is still in the pump mate as I never removed the sleeved piston. The ball is captured and covered by the cone so could explain why I didn`t see it........ we shall see  Thanks for your patience.
There is the chance that pump is farked. I think that acc sphere must have been flat for a long time before I got car :( No worries..onwards and upwards

OK Guys...........Fixed :D What was it? On first stripping out the union and then the twin threaded plug I tried to dry it out for a looksee. I did not initially take the piston out. BUT I used some cotton buds to soak up the LHM and dry out the chamber right to the bottom.

As the V6 pump opening is tucked away so well what I did not notice was this:

In dabbing the bottom of valve with the cotton bud I must have inverted the cone to an upside down or sideways position with the ball going ether under or on top. You would probably see this on a 1.9 as I noticed the detail on one I stripped from another car. This is what caused me to feel the thread on the plug so tight against the spring hence my difficulty in screwing it in. When I got the piston out and assembled it properly the plug valve went in easily.

After filling tube once and closing the reg pressure valve it all came to life.

So is she back on the road? yeah but I aint taking my good V6 out in all this salt! ....that`s the old Trafic's job!
For the record these are the differences on the 1.9 td SX and V6 spring valve assembly : Thanks to all for bearing with me on this...and to Jim for his drawings etc.

Im curious! Why should a TD HP Pump be different to a V6 pumps, the basic hydraulic anti sink system is the same, is it not?

Is it the Hydractive Paul? Different pressure or flow needed ?

No, does that make a difference??

If it does, then how come I got a NON Hydractive Pump to work on a VSX Hydractive TD??

The V6 pump is unique Paul. The PAS (6 piston) side is very different and the 2-piston side has a higher output. Ever noticed how fast a V6 gets it up in the mornings?

They are NOT interchangeable with anything. If you do try, you'll blow your steering ram into next week    It's that different.

I suspect the V6 needs the higher output due to the much larger front strut pistons and the increased weight they carry.

Maybe the pressure is adequate or the same and it is just design internals that are changed due to other factors....Just seen Jims post.......pressure then.
