Tube gauge
The various hydraulic tubes throught the Xantia. They are different DIA. Are they all the same thickness ? What is that thickness?

Im sure its 4, 6 and 8mm... someone correct/ confirm?

I know that there are 3.5mm and 4.5 mm dia on the brake circuit of my V6. Am I correct in assuming that these are strictly speaking, tubes and not pipe.

Pipe is referred to as inside dia. Tube as outside Dia versus wall thickness.
Anyway Paul. When a brake pipe on the Xantia is mentioned at 3.5mm. is it OD?.........If so I need the gauge thickness
Martin will know all this stuff. I don`t expect him to give us ALL his trade secrets though

Citroen have gone for a fairly unusual outer diameter of 3.5mm for most but not all of the hydraulic pipework. They have also opted for an unusual pipe flaring method which requires a special pipe flaring tool available from Pleiades. The method they use is to create little bulges at the end of the pipes. An example is shown here,

Thanks guys. I`m trying to cut through the mystery here. 3.5MM tube. Od or Id? The flare? It is really a Swage rather than a flare?. I will take a few pipes from a scrapper and have a closer look. Swaging tools are always more expensive.

DONT get mixed up!!
If you look carefully, it seems that there are two sizes of pipe that run to the rear, ine is for suspension feed which I think is the 3.5 pipe, and theres a larger size pipe that feeds the rear brakes... I know this as Ive just repiped an XM with the two sizes.. (I still cannot tell you what the larger size was )

I can confirm later, I'll get my calipers (vernier ones) on a pipe on the scrapper....
