So they are £400 new from Citroen? Not as bad as i was expecting if thats so.

Nice to see your updated sig! 8) 306 Meridian, is that the one with the half leather interior? Very nice cars
Ah fair enough, probably need a new one then... The idea was to get one new if the car was sound enough to keep for years.

And yeah £400 is what the chap I bought it off paid apparantly, it had it be shipped from France for him but I've had that for a Peugeot part before now.

The Meridian spec is the half leather one yep 8) . In my opinion it's the best spec'd 1.9TD engined 306 you could buy, not mine as it's getting on a bit now, 150k on the clock  It's got no clunks anyway so it's a brilliant car, had plenty of bushings replaced but it's not that expensive, good old PSA :)

CitroJim, I sent £6 via paypal as I assumed that's what's the accepted amount to pay per year, but if I'm taking the p. then let me know as I really don't know what to expect to pay. Thanks.

Some pictures of the 306 here if you're interested, I'll get some of the activa and pop them in that album.

Looks very tidy your 306, its bearly run in with that mileage on a TD  Nice spec, always quite liked those. Seems quite quick? Is that just 90bhp or have you 'improved' it? 8) Great cars Peugeots, my 206 has been a very good car, very good fun to drive too, lift off oversteer in it is superb, very well balanced car. Had i of had smaller feet i might have been keeping it!

Interested to see some good pics of your activa, you should start your own blog/gallery thread :)

Id have thought if an Xm strut top is £350, an Activa ram would be a lot more, so it seems reasonable going by that price. You might just have to bite the bullet and get it, i bet they are getting rare items now too.

Activa rams are around £400 from the dealer.

My Activa that I bought with 37k miles and full dealer history has a leaky ram on it already.

I'm tempted to whip it off so that I can get a look at it as the car doesn't do any mileage in a year so I can have it sitting for a while.

I wondered if a local hydraulic specialist could recondition it too.

I took a video of it when it was standard at 90hp, then I took it to a place called Derv Doctor near me who 'tuned' (init  ) the fuel pump and upped the boost slightly, reduced the 0-60 from about 11 seconds to just over 8! I had it rolling roaded at a whopping  107 hp after the tune, but it was a hot day and the intercooler is sat on top of the engine, so I think it's more like 110 when you're going along with good airflow.

I then swapped the fuel pump which was a decent Lucas unit (2 types, the later type fitted to 99 and possibly 98 cars seems better than the unit fitted to 95-97 ones) for a Bosch pump as I was told it tuned better, but more importantly it was to run on veg oil. It didn't tune better so it's a bit slower than it was on that video, but it's still pretty quick.

Anyway about the Activa. If I need to get a new ram then so be it, I was considering buying the car for £700 with the ram so I had budgeted for it.

David - I told you I'd get a Xantia eventually! Cheers for all the advice you gave me on MSN over the last year.

If we knew the size of the seal in the ram and could get them apart I'm sure we could reseal them ourselves, there can't be much to it inside, but there probably is!

Thats impressive, similar to a remap on a HDi 90 in that case, but cheaper to run

Have you had chance to take a look at your new Citroen yet? Looks to be a good car from the pictures, savoy garage often has very nice cars in by the looks of their website, which i often check on.

If i remember correctly, S2 Activas are even more rare than S1s, so you do have quite a rare car there :) Similar colour to your 306 too ...

To be honest I've not looked, I've got a university assignment I was meant to do over christmas but I spent most of the time off so far looking at Xantias! So I'm doing that assignment now...

And yeah most folk on the 306 forum with HDi's have theirs remapped by a bloke in Leeds, does a known good remap up to 120 hp, sometimes more, and it's a clean map too. He charges £120 last time I checked. Definately recommended, assuming the HDi 90 engine and ECU in the Xantia is the same as the 306 HDi, which only had the 90hp engine.

Xantias had BOTH HDi units, a 110bhp FIRST from late 1998, then later the 90bhp was added to replace the Old XUD 90bhp engine...

I guess the ECUs would be similar, so your 306 Guy, would most likely to do a Xantia one..

Yes sorry that's what I was trying to say, assuming the HDi 90 in the Xantia is the same as the 306 HDi which only had the 90hp engine available.

I could ask him if they are similar if anyone's interested.

Yes they are the same units...

Infact, I bought a HDi 90 engine from a Xsara, and installed it in a Xantia - turning it into a 110bhp in the process.. The only things I changed, were the Flywheel and Clutch (110bhp's are a PULL clutch like the old XUD) the inlet manifold to take intercooler, and the turbo was a different configuration... thats all, and with a 110bhp ECU, its not done 25k with NO problems at all!!

I was under the impression the 110 turbo wastegate was electronically controlled which meant it had a different ECU arrangement. Well the ECU may be the same but it had a boost pressure input somewhere along the line.

Its Vaccuum controlled VIA an Electro Valve on the LEFT HAND side of the engine bay...

But its built onto the turbo, hence needing to swap turbos over between the 90bhp and 110bhp - SO in Theory I DO Have a HDi 90 BHP Turbo Spare in the shed taking up space...

Yes i know the feeling, ive got uni assigments to do too, though not due in just yet i really should be cracking on with them.

£120 is cheap, might ask you at somepoint if you can get the details :) WOuldnt mind my C5 110 remapping eventually, should improve things quite a bit, to around 140 im thinking.

Yeah i looked at getting my 206 90HDi remapped but didnt get round to it in the 3 months ive been driving it. now up for sale if you know anyone who wants one

My 306 HDi has been remapped to 125bhp.

The difference it has made to the car is unreal. It's totally transformed it.

The guy in Leeds can't do HDi 110's at the moment. As the management systems are different from the 90's because of the arrangement around the turbo it's something he's having to work on.

I'm waiting for one for my Xantia HDi 110. Should be able to get that near 150bhp.

David.

I've still got 3 days to do the assignment... so it's fiiine...

I thought it was something turbo related that meant he couldnt remap the 110's. The only reason he only does HDi90's is because he used to own a 306 HDi and mapped it himself (very well I might add), then decided to sell the map to other forum members, but he tweaks each map for each car.
