Berlingo electrical issue

Post by Glenn »

Hi,
having some issues with the electrics on my 2000 Berlingo and hoping there is a common or known issue before I start getting underneath and getting my hands dirty.

My drivers side headlight has stopped working. High beam is okay, just the low beam not working. I have swapped the bulbs with the working passenger side and the bulb is okay, I have checked the fuses with a multimeter and all okay too. Wiring looks okay to the headlight unit. My next step will be to trace the wiring but hoping that there is a common or weak point I can go to.

Also having issues with the blinkers. When I activate them (left or right) sometimes they work fine, other times they don't operate, but if i wiggle the hazard light (red button on console) or jam it with a bit of paper it seems to get them working. Does the hazard light switch fail or the contacts inside get corroded.
Also do the headlights go thru this switch?. I wouldn't imagine so.

The two issues occurred separately but I'm wondering if they are related or if there is a common cause or known issue.

Many thanks,
Glenn

Hi...

And welcome, I see its your first posting..

Headlight could be the plug on the rear of the lamp, unplug it and clean the connectors..

Indicators do indeed go through the hazzard switch, my guess is a faulty switch, and only a replacment would fix that..
