Small Xsara S1 Droplink Q

Post by citroenxm »

Hi all

Got a small Xsara 1.4i S1 last edition question / query..

Its heavy on NEAR SIDE Drop links, as in constantly wearing them out... Ive put two on in about 8k miles...

What I DID notice though couple of weeks ago when I was dooing the CV Joint boot, is that when the steering is turned lock to lock the strut was turning that much it was straining the ball in the drop link joint - to a point the plastic backing was getting pushed out...

Is there a particular link for the Xsaras? Or could the strut be incorectly inserted into the Hub carrier?? I KNOW useually theres a locating "Lump" on the strut bottom to prevent this, but could there be a possibility, Ive not stripped a Xsara that far down yet...

Thanks for any sugestions

Paul

are both sides doing the same Paul, hasnt got broken springs has it wether this could cause the fault your are getting i dont know,

i would have thought left lock should strain the joints eaqualy as much or little as right lock
