Hi , I have just changed the battery on my series 1 xantia .
The alarm now seems to have a mind of its own .
can I take the fuse out or dissarm it some other way , to get home tonight . where would the fuse be ?

The usual cause of the alarm going off unnecessarily is faulty interior movement sensors, you can establish whether that is the case by pressing the button on the dash (hold it until the alarm light stays on) to the right of the wheel just prior to getting out.
If your Xantia is an early one there will be keyhole built into the windscreen scuttle trim under the bonnet to turn the alarm off.
