Xantia bumper trim NOW SORTED! Yey

Hi fellas, just picked up my latest Xantia from a fellow member, cheeres Steve

But its had a little knock on the front bumber and part of the trim has come off. I think it can be popped back on somehow but wondered if any of you guys new if there was some method for this? Dont really wanna start banging it and have it crack on me, Take a look at the pics and you will see what i mean.

Any ideas fellas?

It can be tricky to get that corner piece on and off without taking the bumper off due to the various tags that hold it on. It's not as bad as it sounds, bumper removal is fairly straight forward though maybe a bit time consuming.

No, not that difficult Trooper, just complicated a bit by the headlamp washers...

Don't trust Mr Haynes to tell you how to remove a MK2 bumper. Best to await someone on here to tell you the exact method. Amazingly, I've never removed a MK2 front bumper but it's a common enough job becase it's necessary to remove it for swapping bulbs in the foglights

It really isn't that difficult. There are three bolts underneath and one in each wheel arch at the top corner of the bumper. There are also two screws nearby that screw in upwards. To get to these you need to peel back the wheel arch liner. Putting the suspension on high makes access easier but don't go underneath without blocking it up.

The front inner grille needs to come off and if I remember correctly the headlamps too, or maybe I just took them off for the sake of it.

But that is also just three bolts each.

The headlamp washer hose has a snap together connector which you just pull apart and the fog lamp electrical connector is attached to the inner bumper on the opposite side.

Once everything is unbolted and disconnected a sharp tug will see it pop off.

You don't need to remove the headlamps.

Well before I try taking the bumper off is it feasable to try and take off the loose chunk of trim, cut all the mounts and luggs of and makeing the edges smooth and flush and mount it back in with a good carefully applied solvent.
Anyone think that might work?

I've never removed the bumper but according to this pic it seems that part #3 can be fitted without bumper removal.

You can tell us the result if it really needed just a snap on.

Part #8 is just for the outlook and if that part is missing now then you can get one from a scrapcar.

Well just gave it a firm push and it didnt want to move anywhere. Will have another go in the morning see if i can give it a bit more wellie!

The outer bumper section do simply clip on, you may have a bent tag stopping it clipping on.

Well i recon instead of forcing it back on as is, it might be a wise idea to take it off to take a look at it. If its a bent clip im just gonna break forcing it back on.

If i remember correctly the silver/chrome insert is one complete piece and should have corresponding tabs/clips on the inside.You need to slot the end into the recess on the rear corners first as otherwise you will never get it to line up correctly.
Oh yours is a S2 not a S1 may not be the same as on my S1
