How long were we off line? :D :D

V6: Aint got back to relay as I been driving it.....freezing up here. Soldered up that connection at AC Pump.the double socket that uses one connection ?

It`s crap not having proper w/shop manuals and wiring diagrams for this car

I thought maybe to pick up wire from ignition barrel. No wiring diagram and wires change colour so cannot trace unless with meter. Anyways if I pick correct wire from near Barrel I could use that as the switch then find a 12 v feed into relay and then out to solenoid where the wire from other relay is already attached. Now the second switch connection on my new relay......does that go to earth? Would that work ?

No, you can't use the signal from the ignition switch, as the existing safety relay must remain in the circuit to prevent the engine starting in gear.

You can pick up that wire at the existing relay base, or at the AC compressor where you soldered it.

I presume that the car is starting and running OK for now?

As I posted the other day, you can put the new relay in the circuit between the ignition switch and the existing relay (as Jim has done), or you can put the new relay between the existing relay and the solenoid, as I did.

If your car has headlight washers, and there is no room to fit another relay in the relay box, then I would suggest fitting the new relay in the ECU box, and running reasonably heavy wires across the top of the radiator (or with the main injection harness to the engine) to it.

You can pick up the signal wire at the existing relay base, or at the AC compressor where you soldered it.

I presume that the car is starting and running OK for now?

I have Lexi and Mike and I are walking, talking workshop manuals on the V6..

I can post up any wiring diagram you need, including the full harness diagrams and the location diagrams. Would that help?

Mike is right, you must not bypass the Start Inhibit relay.

As a quick fix, you could break the connection at the two pin socket by the AC compressor and use this to operate a relay powered from the heavy wire going to the alternator (via a 30A fuse). Hide the relay up behind the alternator but well away from the exhaust.

Shall I draw you a circuit for that?

Yes, you can take the relay drive signal from the connection you soldered.
That goes to one side of the relay coil, and the other side goes to ground.

Depending where you mount the relay you need to pick up 12V (preferably fused), this then goes through the new relay contacts and abck to the solenoid. Remember to remove the old wire from the solenoid.

Ok. I will use a fused relay ? I have a few 30 amp ones. I can pick up 12v from from ac to alternator .We take the ring off that is on Solenoid and shrink wrap wire out of harms way then? Stupid question.....why? Too much voltage in Parallel ?

Anyway guys:
A Killer awaited sentence. When the judge came in he told him there was good news and bad.

"The bad news is you are sentenced to death in the electric chair"

" What`s the good news "asked the killer.

Judge answered "Lexi will be wiring it up"

Here's a very rough diagram Lexi.

Image

The numbers by the relay base pins are the standard ones.

This is the cross-reference to Citroen ones.

Pin 85 - 1
Pin 86 - 2
Pin 30 - 3
Pin 87a - 4
Pin 87 - 5

You can connect the relay most easily using fully shrouded (sleeved) standard crimp connectors. They fit the relay pins perfectly.

Make the connection to the alternator lug using a meaty ring type terminal.

Hide the relay up and out of harms way somewhere, in a stout plastic bag for protection.

For the fuse, you can get "In-Line" blade fuse holders which are just the job for this. As Mike says, a fuse is essential.

Hope that helps...

Course it does Jim many thanks. The cross ref from Cit numbers to Bosch are icing on cake.

As Cool Hand Luke said......"I got my head right now Boss"
