Is this noise normal?

Post by Fox »

Hiya.
My Xantia always used to click constantly, and click with increasing frequency when I negotiated a hill at low speed (Probably at high speed as well, but I couldnt hear it then). I had the accumulator sphere changed, and how this has stopped! Hurrah [:)]
However it's been replaced by another noise, which happens more infrequently. It's quite hard to explain. It lasts for perhaps 1-2 seconds and no more, and I guess the easiest way to describe it is by saying it sounds like running your fingernail over a corrugated surface or something...
Is this a normal noise, or is something wrong?

My Xantia has always made this noise, both before and after replacing the accumulator sphere. Its particularly noticeable when revving the engine at low road speed, like when climbing a hill, as you mention. I've known other Xantias do it too and always assumed its completely normal !

Is there any chance that hyd. pump started to get noisy much more then before? At least pump on my Xantia is unusully noisy. Dispite that fact, works pretty fine.
