Guess the part game

Post by MikeT »

Once again I have an unidentifiable Xantia part.

Sorry for the out-of-focus photo but it's enough IMO.

Other Markings;
CA/PSA 6
12V
>PA66 GF20<

It came from the N/S front wing area.

Any idea?

You're the master of understatement there, it's so out of focus I can't even see the picture :lol: :lol:

I'd forget my head if it weren't bolted on and my balls if they weren't in a bag. :oops:

I think I should also get some reading glasses :wink:

MikeT, PA66 GF20 should be the material which is hardened plastic kind of material.
12V must be pointing out that this is a device which uses 12V supply.
N/S --> there are not many items and if iit's a rectangular shaped box(?).

So my guess is that you have found the famous BITRON :D

Edit: NowI can see that you have added the picture and it's written (almost clearly) Bitron.
PS: I don't need any reading glasses 8) (yet).

I have come to associate Bitron with the A/C and climate control but also know there can be more than one unit in a car. As per this item found nearby which is what I believe to be the bitron everyone talks about ....

Yep the black one is the bitron but bitron make loads of relays & components. No idea on the grey one though, how many pins on the connector ? do you have a pic of the location it came from ?

Second picture is THE Bitron with 15 pin connector.

First one (grey) should be bitron "relay"/switch. Are there any electrical signs (relay + resistance + diode) on it and does it also have a 15 pin connector? Then that's the relay part. How many pins are there?

Edit: Here's a pic of what I mean. This component also has Bitron text written on the casing and has a 15-pin connector.

The grey unit was found near the black Bitron, I think more to the outer side of the wing I can't recall exactly. It has twin 4-pin connectors and looks like this inside...

I also have a Bitron relay, it's got an extra small pin (requiring it's own special relay holder) which appears to be diode related?

the 2 things in middle with red bases look like small relays to me so could be a/c module or somethig like that.

This is not directly related to your question but I wanted to share this Data Sheet page I've found about the material properties --> http://www.hemabo.nl/index.php/Datasheets.html

* Polyphenylenether - PPE-GF10 grey. [(Polyphenylene Ether + PS) plastic material with filler: Glass Fiber Reinforcement, 10%.]
* Polyamide 66 - PA66 CF20 - black. [Nylon 66 (Polyamide 66) plastic material with filler: Glass Fiber Reinforcement, 20%.]
* Polyamide 66 - PA66 GF30 - black. [Polyamide (nylon 6,6), 30% Glass fiber, usually black.]

Yes, they are relays. Shiny contact heads can be seen. There are also resistors, capacitor and diodes seen on the board.

Mike,

I found one in my stash and I recall where it came from.

It's the Automatic Electric Window controller. Lives in the door....

The PCB and components are very similar to the XM drivers window "one touch" controller. Found on the inside of the door trim panel down just above the courtesy light. Case is identical, the only difference that I can see is the connection socket which on an XM box has a single blue 9 pin socket.

You've got me thinking now Paul :roll: It is the Auto controller for the driver's window but exactly where it was is now a subject for conjecture..

It was off Xac's old LX. Xac can you recall?
