Hi
Just bought a Witter towbar for my Xsara - a 2003 model. It came with a 'standard' electric wiring kit - by the looks of it you just tap into the rear loom to take power as per cars from old.
However, is this correct? The place I bought it from said it would do the trick but I've also heard that later P2's need a bypass box as they are multiplexed?
I'm confused! Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks
Will

Would it not be possible to make the connections at the rear lamp units? Saves messing with a meter. On my Xantia, I made most of the connections at the rear lamp units, as I don't like those connectors where you squeeze them on to the cable at any convenient point.
FWIW, on one of the BoL's Xantia wiring diagrams, I came across a 12v power feed shown, which I discovered ended in the car at a socket hidden behind the offside boot interior trim. Used this for permanent 12v supply for tent lights etc.

Yes thats the ideal place to make the connections, but how do you know which wires to connect the towbar harness to on the car without checking them with a meter or having an accurate wiring diagram ?Xantidote wrote:Would it not be possible to make the connections at the rear lamp units? Uncle buck: I think he meant the wire identification on the cars wiring not the trailer sockets.
