If you open the storage compartment in the floor of the rear right hand side you will find a wheelbrace clipped into the lid of it.
If you open the boot lid you will see a bolthead in the boot floor near to where the bumper is with a slot in it (you may need to lift up a little cut away flap in the carpet to see it), use the end of the wheel brace in the slot to undo the bolt, this lowers a hook down enabling you unhook the spare wheel carrier.

Just checked it......NOTHING. Bought the car in an auction. The guys probably cleaned it out before putting it up for sale. Now I have a flat tyre on a sunday away from civilisation and am stuck

 how can they do that, spare tyre belongs to the car and should be passed to the new owner!

So you have seen the empty spare wheel holder, under the car (outside), as wheeler described.
In the spare wheel holder there should also be a jack box which contains,
- lift jack
- wheel brace
- hook for towing

@vertvega. No the tyre is there. Its the brace to turn the tyre lock thats not in the supposed compartment.
@Citronut. Excuse my description. I am actually in West Wickham (still in Croydon) will leave it till tomorrow when I can see clearly. The tyre s there but nothing to unlock it.

Thanks guys. Well appreciated
