Very Hot Xantia 1.8i and Accum Sphere prob?

Missus has a 1.8i K reg
Get's very hot (ie 110) in about 15mins driving!! I have put some radflush in -have also bought (but not yet fitted) a new thermostat -should this do the trick? If not,what else could it be?
Secondly her car makes a sort of hissing/scraping sound every 4 seconds or so (if sat idling & rev engine that decreases to about every 2 seconds) - is this the accum sphere?

Does the radiator ever get hot ?
I'd replace your thermostat anyway, and yes, it does sound like your accumulator sphere, and it needs changing !

Do you remember Ivor the Engine? The noise he made was psshh tu cough. Blimey this looks stupid! Well, the pressure relief valve makes a similar noise but without the cough...... psshh te....
If it's making that noise too frequently, then it's your accumulator sphere.
(I can't believe I'm posting this!!)
