MORE Fantastic Disasters!!

Post by citroenxm »

Hi all,
Had GREAT fun today! Left work on our useual half day, to go and collect someone from Hospital, got to Bangor, (About 35miles from home) when driving around the useual FULL hospital carpark a smell of LHM starting comming through my Vents, so I pulled up and open'd up the bonnet (This is my Series 1 TD Xantia With Air Con) and every time the regulator kicked in the Pump spewed LHM out of the Suspension Feed pipe (Later twin outlet pipe)

Nope - no spare being carried with me.. luckily, my mate was home, and he managed to get another pipe off the gold car here...

Of course being 35miles away meant a good while wait.. An after noon wasted..

However, on inspection, it seems as its the way I had bent the feed pipe from the pump, it seems the feed pipe does NOT like a sharp bend directly above the outlet... Anyway spare pipe supplied and I got it fitted JUST in time for the rain!

My lesson.. ALWAYS carry a spare of recent pipes you MAY have been MESSING or adjusting recently!! I Will now!!

Oh there had to be someone

Malcolm, Both out pipes on anti sink are the same size.... it was the feed for the suspension not the steering..

Will have to try and sort something better today, when the rain stops..

Are Later Series 2 feed pipes the same as earlyer ones? I got one here, but the end in the regulator is different.. I suppose Ive answered my own Q..

By the way, theres another down bit to this, I run WITHOUT cam belt covers, so OF COURSE not only is the Aux belt saturated in LHM, so is the cam belt... So this is the cars 3rd Belt in 10k...

First was routine belt change, then the Cam shft seal popped out and it got covered in Oil... then there was a strange oil leak ontop of the Cam shaft cover, which got onto the belt, so changed it again, then this...

Perhaps that is why Citroen felt that the extra expense of cam belt covers was necessary? :?
