I've used this garage before.
Moss Motors
17 Chalford Industrial Estate
Chalford, Stroud, GL6

They are Citroen specialists.
They diagnosed and sorted a hydraulic problem that a main dealer couldn't on a BXGTI I used to own.
They are one of only two good independants that I know in my area. (Wotton under edge)
A friend at work has also used them and been impressed by their knowledge.

Excellent suggestion Paul. It needs someone familiar with hydraulic suspension to diagnose the problem, anyone else is just guessing.

I'll second the comment that Citroen suspension is superior to almost any other. I have never encountered anything as good and it is, as with almost everyone here, my primary reason for selecting a Citroen over all others.

Can't use the IP lookup function for Mods and Admin? The first click gives you the poster's IP, the second usually takes you one step "up the line" to reveal the district and service provider.

It's not reliable in this Country Adam as the location is that of the ISP and not of the client. Anyway, that function is only available to mods and admins and even we hardly ever use it in anger...

Guys you've been great, thanks Old-Guy for the tech info, I remember I had my front spheres changed from 77Bar to 55Bar.

I need your collective help now on how to present my situation to the "expert"/garage who will hopefilly sort my bouncy car. I need to know what to tell him so he gets the right info.

The start is to say, check the ride as I think the spheres are under pressure and need replacing, but also can he check the ride quality because once the new spheres are fitted I expect that horrible rolling bouncy ride to return which make me think there is an underlying fault in the system.
I also need to confirm the various ride heights are correct.

Will that do it?

As Paul says, you need someone who has had experience of these cars to take a look, let us know where you are and I'm sure someone could help.

UPDATE - I took my Xantia to Moss in Chalford, Stroud. Told him all my woes with the suspension, he waved his magic spanner then asked me to take it out for a test ride. I could tell within 5 meters of driving it was a very different suspension, as it should have always been. In simple terms he had fix it :D
His cure, so he told me was to replace the 4 spheres and adjust the front ride height a little. If that was all it took then how come Citroen main dealers can't do this?

I have reluctantly driven it again expecting it all to be a dream, the good news is, it is fixed, smooth "magic carpet ride". I am so confused because I took it to the two main Citroen dealers and a number of independant Citroen specialists in Gloucestershire, clearly non of them have the skills.

That magic spanner costs £300 a waft, although hefty I paid it with a smile because at long last the suspension was fixed. :D

Citroen dealers know little or nothing about Xantia/XM, most of their mechanics have probably never seen one and they would'nt know how to repair one if they did, its all about electronics and fault codes now, many mechanics can't repair anything without one, and many still can't repair them if they have one, not their fault, its just the way the trade has gone. Hydropnumatic Citroens are a specialised job and most of the specialists are on this forum or club-xm ..or both :D

EXCELLENT NEWS!

As Peter N says, the dealers are NOT interested, they want you to buy cars from them, not fix older ones, which they probably dont know a thing about!
