Brodit proclip mount for C5

Post by steve101 »

I have had a look at the various proclip mounts available from Brodit http://www.brodit.com/ for my tomtom satnav. Has anyone fitted one of these to a C5 and which location would you advise?

Personally I'd bodge it for a while to find the ideal location before purchase in case the Brodit clip is unable to fit where you want it.

Due to the heat reflective screen C5s have problems with after market satnav units. The only location for theb is the 'dotted' area around the screen mirror as this is provide to allow RFID toll responders. Unfortunately the won't stick, due to the dots :(

Having said that I used my daughter's Tomtom a couple of weeks ago and ended up with it stuck to the top of the screen, far right. Not the ideal location by any means but the only place I could actually see it.

Try bluetacking it in various locations, see if you get a signal.

I have no problems using GPS in my 807 with reflective screen.

I have a Brodit mount for my N95, on the 807 it fits nicely on the centre vents.

Thanks for the responses. Good advice to try it out in different places. I had a proclip on my last car on the centre console about the height of the speedo, which worked well. I'll wait and see.

I used http://www.morpethmobiles.co.uk/brodit_holder.asp last time. They were the cheapest and good delivery times. That was over a year ago so might be different now.

Yes, the perceived wisdom is that the screen stops them working but it may just be certain models.

I tried all over the place and in the end just stuck it to the screen (instead of trying it there first to prove/disprove popular theory) Worked fine.

I have an old Navman 530 and I have used it in loads of cars including a C5 and it has never had a problem in obtaining a Sat. fix.

IMO Brodit clips are best.. remember, if you need reading glasses you don't want to have the satnav positioned so you have to keep putting your glasses on or to far away that you can't see it.
