Well there is a good chance I have found a solution to one prob on the Xantia , so I might as well throw this one into the forum too !!
Rear suspension.
It has a mind of it's own. Sometimes it goes hard , like the spheres have failed , but then it can be normal ! This is an exclusive spec car so it has the suspension switch for comfort or sport (!) driving. When the suspension goes hard , if the switch is then operated momentarily ride goes back to normal 7 times out of 10 , but sometimes the switch needs to be operated for 10 or 20 seconds to get normal ride.
Also , the suspension seems to go hard during cornering , then the switch has to operated to get back to normal.
Any idea's please ?

It sounds as there is some fault with the rear electrovalve, a quick Lexia check may reveal all quite quickly. Bear in mind that from your description of the fault the ECU may well be in default firm mode which it will remain in until the faults are cleared with a Lexia.

Further to Richard's post, once the faults are read/cleared with the Lexia, it's very likely you'll need to do the "diode mod" on the electrovalves.
Details of the mod are here. It's very straightforward.
One thing about the Hydractive ECU is that it regularly collects intermittent faults, mainly from the steering position sensor, and these can only be cleared with a Lexia. Disconnecting the battery will not do it. Any stored intermittent fault will cause the ECU to assume a default value for the sensor in question with detriment (especially on Activas) to handling and comfort.
Resetting the Hydractive ECU is regular routine service task
