300,000 km on the clock!

Post by lazza »

HI Forum

Just wanted to say congratulations to my Xantia for hitting the big 300 000 (km) !!

Made it to france and back no probs- so many thanks to everyone in the forum this year for your help in making this happen

Not sure what present to buy it ?... a clean is too boring, a paint job too expensive, fluffy dice too corny, a "keep honking i'm relaoding", "if you think this car is dirty, try spending a night with its driver". bumper stickers ... :?:

Cheers

A true indication that french cars have the longevity of other manufacturers....an often dismissed fact.

The highest mileage UK Xantia i saw was a guy who used to come into GSF Trafford park. He had a circa 1995 LX TD with 450,000 miles on the clock. He made regular trips to somewhere in eastern europe where it was so cold he had to light a fire under the engine to get it started. Once fired up though he said it ran great  :)

The only modifcation he had done to the car was to make some custom extensions to some lower down hoses running them across the back of the engine bay for easier repairs he said :)

The car looked tatty as you would expect but im sure it was running on its original engine and box :P

Nearly 201,000 miles here. My annual milage isn't all that high so I dont expect to hit 230k for quite a while yet
I'm sure when the V6 XM comes in the next year or two the annual milage for the Xantia will drop further

214,500k on my 1994 L reg Xantia TD, however, one of my customers has just given his 1998 S reg Xantia TD, to his brother in law as a tempery car, 291,000 MILES not, kms, MILES!

I will be ending up with the car after they are done with it - so not sure what she be on by then, thats an original engine baecause it was on about 120k when I started looking after it for my customer..

So I take it my HDi C5 at 121,000 miles isn't something I should worry about?

330k kilometres, bah nothing! This is barely run in!

My old N regd petrol engined estate clocked up 260000 miles before I decided to retire it and my brother's V regd HDi estate clocked over 300,000 miles and was still going strong.

There is a guy around here (has signed up for this forum too) that runs C5 2.0 HDi's as taxis and one has done >440,000 miles.

I did hear of a Swansea taxi driver doing over 1,000,000 miles in his 405TD many moons ago.

Im VERY impressed with that milage on a Petrol engine...

I guess Latest oil technology enables a longer life from Petrol units..

Very Good stuff!
