The top engine mount on my VSX has gone. The mechanic says that the existing mount was fitted upside down!(as far as I know by a Citroen dealer)
This has destroyed everything upwards from the mount itself and made it very difficult to remove the existing rubber/metal mount.Whilst at the garage there was much hammering and use of cold chisels all to no avail, and without the parts necessary they have put it back together until I have the parts. I have to use the car for work and I am terrified of what further damage may occur whilst doing so.Its already torn the air intake downstream of the filter housing.
I have posted up a request on a couple of parts finder sites ,and tried a few breakers (including A5 salvage) but no luck yet.
Can anyone help me please ?
Is anyone breaking one of these?
If I have to go to a main stealer any idea how much I'm in for?
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
Kind regards
Paul

Well it had to happen didn,t it.On the way to work this morning another part of the mount bracket broke, the engine has moved about 2 inches further forwards, stalled, very difficult to re-start wont tick over, and massive clouds of diesel smelling smoke.Managed to get towed home but it's serious I,m sure.Lost all throttle response as well.
Anyone got any advice, or thoughts on what it might be.

Sorry to hear the bad news.
My first action on getting car home would be to get the engine supported, so it's not hanging off and straining everything else - damage limitation. I'd get a jack under the sump near to the broken support, with a piece of wood against sump to spread load. Jack engine up to where you think it should be, and then get some timber blocks under.
Not sure if maybe the engine will also have moved/pivotted back, so you may want to use a bit of rope to pull it forwards towards usual position.
Then you can inspect for damage
Here's hoping it's not bad news - Martin

My gut feeling is that the bracket has hit the cambelt and caused who knows what damage. Its either a repair, a new engine ,or a new car I feel.

Gutted with you Paul if that's the case. Mind, the XUD boys will be along

not done it myself but saw a gorgeous mint VSX in a yard that had done

Get the cam cover off and see if its all intact.
If it's broken up inside, then you have two choices:
1) new head.
2) new cam and caps which may take a while to source enough caps to find ones which fit. The caps are numbered, make a note which order they're in.
