just happened on this. since jag has got their 3.0tdi XF which turned out way better in fuel economy and output than the 2.7tdi they and citroen are using, problem was i think it was longitudinally setup for rear wheel drive cars.
now it looks like citroen will have a 240bhp 3.0hdi in their c5 and c6, which will put it right up there in the usual german bmw, audi mercedes marques everyone is after, which may make it the most powerful citroen from the factory ever?
think i'll be waiting a little longer past the 2.7tdi c6 if this makes an appearance , looks worth it though.

The 3.6 L V8 is built at Dagenham Engine Plant by Ford of Europe.
It is a twin-turbocharged Diesel V8 producing 272 PS (268 hp/200 kW) and 640 N·m (472 ft·lbf). Production began in April 2006.
Much speculation in the United States has focused on this engine as a possible Diesel entrant in the F-150 pickup truck and Expedition SUV.[1] It was announced that the new F150 engine will be based on this engine and enlarged to 4.4L. The Cleveland Engine plant recently began small-scale production of the exotic compacted graphite iron (CGI) used in the block's construction, leading many to expect production of the engine there.

well i don't know. in that article it says hdi, and that it will be produced to factory fit in citroens.
but likely it is a collaboration, just as the 2.7 twin turbo diesel was with ford/jaguar.
either way i will be pleased to have a diesel citroen that can shift equally well as german diesels

I don't care how many horse powers and torques it's got, it's still a stinky old diesel and should be in a tractor. Tell me when Ferrari make a diesel and I'll give up driving....
And I don't understand how an alternator with brake force recovery would be of any benefit. I thought that was something for hybrid cars.

Just imagine that after it had a better FMIC fitted and an ECU remap, push on for 500nm torque maybe more?? the 2.2hdi chipped well from 138bhp to over 180bhp in most cases and they couldn't half shift... I would if the deeper oil sump is a direct bolt on, would be good to use on the C6 for people who like to carry speed through corners....

Hang on, isn't speed in the C6 and corners a bad mix?
Most test drives I've seen of it suggest the powersteering practically dies at high speed.

Okay, Time for me to chip in a little, I can only speak for myself here so please allow for an amatuer. I travel daily between Preston and Warrington and there is an excellent place to test road holding and handling as you come off the M65 at the Preston end, There is sharp right hand bend which then goes straight into a sharp left, the speed limit over that piece is 50mph, The C5 I had struggled to go round them both at 35 but the C6 just seems to love it. I have been through there at 45 and yes the steering does tighten up but actually it's a good things because it actually feels more positive.
A friend of ours has a BMW 850Ci and he tells me that his will thake it a 50 if he pushes it.
Oh, and just for info there is a VSOA inspection centre there as well so 'the boys in blue' alomost live there.

the c6 has had good reviews in cornering, maybe it has a faster processor and hydraulics to suit? in any case i am looking forward to the day i get one
45mph for a diesel is good, an 850 petrol motor has far better engine and supposedly chassis balance characteristics to corner well and should pull out atleast that much more speed
