Door Locks

Post by blueboy2001 »

The central locking on my Xantia has been upto its old tricks again of locking and immediately unlocking again.
I spoke to the parts man and the dealer I use and he said its usually the front solenoids that go, and the drivers door is most common for failing. In light of this, I have sourced a couple of solenoid & latch units (Cheers Dave [:)]) and intend to fit them when they arrive and I get a spare hour or two.
Any hints or tips on how to do the job painlessly?

Painlessly? Get someone else to do it!
Otherwise you'll be lucky not to scrape your knuckles, break a few nails and skin your forearms while trying to fit your hands through the sharp-edged holes in the door pressing.
Haynes gives an acceptable description of the process.
