Iam going to flush and refill the Rad .

It never hurts to do a full chemical flush of the cooling system.

Be warned it may hasten any leaks of the heater core.

So it does sometimes hurt then...

On a well maintained system where the coolant has been changed regularly and maintained at correct strength, there should be no need of a flush at all.

In all the engines and cooling components I've stripped, never have I seen a situation where a flush would be warranted.

The only exception was my own V6 that had been contaminated with rather a lot of an unknown brand of radseal. A flush of the block with fresh water did for that...

It should be OK to just drain and refill.

However...
If the brand/type of antifreeze previously used was imiscible with the recommended Citroen antifreeze then it may gel up in places and cause blockages, always in the worst of places of course.

As Jim says, it is not really required under normal circumstances but here you could have an unknown variable.

Personally I'd flush the whole system and stick some Forte Cooling System Conditioner (way down the page) that is indicated as being not only compatible but desireable.

It's not you at fault.

Didn't see that and presumed it was crafted for IE. Thanks :)
