I believe you will need a lexia session.
This can be done at the dealers and from personal experience will cost about 40 quid.

How old is your Synergie, what sort of remote is it? i.e. is it infra red (if so it will have a little glass 'eye above the key blade) or is it a RF key?

Give this a try....I have no idea if it will work though....

You can test to see if infra red transmitters (the ones with the little glass eye) are working by using a digital camera / mobile phone camera pointed at the glass eye....when you press the remote buttons you will be able to see the glass eye light up on the camera screen.

I can't comment on the above suggestion but I know that the following works on Xantia's of the same era with infra red remotes, turn on the ignition to the first stage and fire each remote from close range at the infra red receiver, job done. Obviously its easier if you have the spare non remote key
