Cant Do away with the CAT?? Why??
Its PERFECTLY possible and helps the car run a bit better.. Ive just done away with a Blocked Cat on a HDi 110 xantia... not used it on the road though, but my exclusive is cat less and passes the smoke test perfectly..
A DERV doesn't have an emmisions test, it has a Smoke Test..

Its SIMPLE on a DERV...
Cut it out at each end, and then get a straight pipe and either slide the front part and the rear part into OR OVER the straight pipe and Weld up!!
As simple as that!! No need to worry about ECU lights are Lambda probs etc.. there isn't any!
Are you near North Wales???

Re: Xantia HDI 110 Exhuast
Here we go again....
The exhaust has been leaking for some time just where it bends up in front of the cat, so with good weather and child care in place, decided it needed to be tackled. Would the OS bolt come undone, and could I get a spanner on it???? No chance, so had to resort to sawing it off again The pipe was extensively holed in the front section, and has needed some serious repair patches to make it good again - still got just behind the cat to tackle, then get it back on. I THINK it might be possible to get a crescent spanner on the bolt - but I haven't got one,and neither did Halfords or the hardware shop, so hacksaw blade it had to be.
On the plus side, this is the first time I Have used my new auto darkening welding helmet - it's ace!! So much easier than a std one. Just remember to check its on weld not grind after you've had it off..... I can thoroughly recommend one to anyone with a welder - worth every penny of the £40 it cost!

It's now a HDi / V6 hydbrid The old exhaust we took off Simon's V6 donated the patches for the pipe - it needed rather a lot of them!
All quiet now I have managed to get weld arc sunburn on my arm between the glove and the t-shirt

Bit of a Frankenstein monster you have there now Richard, but at least "Its alive!"
I'm surprised you managed to find any solid bits that weren't rusty, but I'm glad its gone to a good cause... Still enough left over for the Visa ?
