Identifying car and parts before spending money.

Post by boristhespie »

I think my C5 is a 110bhp model. (How can I make sure?)

Also looking at Europarts, how do I make sure I am buying the right parts for my model. Like I say it has no markings, not even an hdi badge but I think it is a 110 HDi LX but am not 100%

Are the parts generic?

I want to change all filters, from air to pollen, fuel (entire) and oil filters.

The 110bhp model has an intercooler. Look for a large diameter plastic tube coming over the top of the engine from the turbo to radiator area.

AFAIK the service parts are generic. Not sure about the complete fuel filter, you might have supply the VIN or compare parts side by side. I've seen recommendations here that you change the complete assembly but I have to say I never have. The filter element is certainly the same.

Thanks for that will be phoningthem tomaorrow. Also will put my vin number up.

Looking at parts The one you mention says it uses only Citroen part but Europarts use a lot of Bosch stuff which is cheaper. I trus Bosch but is there anything I should bear in mind re quality when buying part from these guys, inclusing break pads and filters etc?

You can locate them by following the fuel pipe and wiring. Unless they forgot to fit them

That's the pipe to the turbo intercooler, which sits to the right of the radiator, seen from the front of the car.

As regards the banging in the rear of the car. Check your LDS level. It should have been checked at 100,000 miles. Lower the car completely and remove the cap of the LDS may need a top up. Difficult to see the level but it is markrd on the side of the tank.

The banging has been ongoing for a couple of years. A vibrating noise comes from around the undertray when I shut the door.

I have talked to the Citroen garage in montrose (Who have said they would try to locate it for nowt) but they say that the supporting trailing arm suggestion would mean wonky wheel. The wheel is in no way out of alignment and not war evident on the tyre. The garages have lloked at suspension ans say it is okay YET the noise appears to come from the rear left passenger area and you can feel it.

It is getting very much worse but it has taken on a tinny noise now. Very loud and everyone looks.

Will get t checked out next week hopefully and report back. I assume what you are saying is to do with the hydraulic fluid?????

Where do I find that?

Under the plastic cover on the left hand side of the engine bay, right above the suspension pump.

That seems Okay.

The fuel filter assembly, How do I get it off. There doesn't seem to be any obvious way to disengage it? Also do I need to do any techie things when changing it or is it simply a case of removing the old one and replaceing with the new one?

Oh and I just hauled my driver inside handle off. 43 quid for a unit. Damn.

Okay I was wrong. I opened the Power Steering reservoir as indicated above the power steering on the left hand side . The reservior doesn't let me see if it is full or not. I lowered the car and opened. There was a rush of air into or out of the reservoir (pressurised I guess) and looked in. I saw no liquid just a cup with holes.

Incidentaly done a bit of looking around. I have a pool of oil in the recesses of the main Block (I think you call it that). I was wondering if this could be because of my sloppy filling of oil or as I have read elsewhere a leak in the intercooler and if it is this could that be why my power feels down.

Regards that there is clearly a difference on the first run in the morning when it seems better. (temperature maybe?)

PS. This is what I've ordered. alongside oil filter and air filter etc. Tell me its right please....

They all appear to be what you want, but you have missed the air filter
Not too sure about the oil - the 81kW appears to refer to the engine power, wasn't aware that there was an 81kW variant.
I use AC Delco (warning - .pdf!)
