Part Location needed

I drive a '95 xantia 1.9td cbu
original fitted with airconditioning - a 37 degree country

my problem is that my rev meter intermittent, now just die
i remember when my mechanic suggest me to change this sensor part, while he is touching the wire, the rev came back to life again

as i was reading bitron related stuff, etc rotten wire, etc
i forgot that very sensor allso showing it is not good state

q is, where is it? i dont remember


by the way, the rev counter, what is it?

The sensor for the rev counter (tachometer) which reads the speed of the engine in revolutions per minute (RPM) is located on top of the gearbox bellhousing. If you remove the air filter box it will become visible as a black button on the top of the gearbox very close to the engine with a black cable running from it and ending in a brown three pin plug.
